Staying on track, One snack at a time

Snacks and treats are essential to stay on track with a healthy diet. I find they fill the gaps during the day. When you have something substantial as a treat you are more likely to stay on track. Being a little prepared stops me reaching for a quick fix.

These are exactly what they sound like, 85% dark chocolate buttons sprinkled with roasted hazelnuts and a little sea salt. They work a treat 2 or is plenty to have and you feel satisfied after.

They look very pretty and would also make a lovely gift. I love this combination and find the taste of hazelnuts luxurious but switch it up. Add different nuts and or dried fruits.

Dark chocolate is great for boosting your mood and good for brain health.

Store these in an airtight container or cute jar.

Ingredients

100g toasted hazelnuts

250g 85% dark chocolate

Sea salt

Directions

  1. Toast the hazelnuts using a dry pan (no oil) keep tossing them until the start to colour. Once done set aside. Once cool roughly chop them.
  2. Melt the chocolate low and slow to prevent it burning.
  3. Lay a sheet of parchment paper down and drop a teaspoon worth of chocolate down. Keep doing that until you have used half of the chocolate. Sprinkle each “button” with hazelnuts and a little sea salt.
  4. Repeat until the rest of the mixture is gone. Leave them in a cool dark place to dry. Store in an airtight container.
